First off, understand that this is a gay romance. It's about two great guys who meet and fall in love. Deefur Dog is a LOVE story, with true romance. It's not Hot, Hot, Hot, like many would expect, but a well written story from the heart that will keep me coming back to reread it when I'm feeling down.Cam is the dad of a toddler and a very rambunctious Great Dane. He's at his wit's end and the author drew me into the story so that I too remembered those days of doing it on my own and just wanting the universe to give me a break- any break! Jason's youth and idealism, untainted by the world's ugliness is so refreshing, as is his confidence.
That's all I'm going to say, except that if you are open minded and love a good story about PEOPLE, not stereotypes, then you'll enjoy Deefur Dog.

Really cute story! I love that the author took the time to build the chemistry between the two characters before they just jumped into a relationship (aka bed).
Reasonable story line, good character development, and forced emotional meltdowns. I enjoyed it! And while I would like to read more about the characters, I think story was as long as it needed to be. Nothing felt forced.
Overall good, though light on the interactions that make you feel or believe in a love connection.
Loved it- It's a slender volume, but worth every penny. Wonderfully true characters- a sweet story too. Really glad i bought the book. (but oy, can we drop the term 'lifestyle' when referring to gay men and women?) I tend to be a critical reader, and this novella swept me off my feet! Thanks for the great romance!

What a lovely little story! Cameron is overwhelmed with a 2 year old daughter, a 140 lb. dog, and is still grieving the death of his partner. Enter Jason, a 25 year old college student-nearly a teacher who is desperate for a job and a place to live so he can finish his degree. Their love story flows gently until both realize they are undeniably in love. Yes, we want to see more of them, but the shortness doesn't mean the story wasn't complete. Lovely book.
I love stories in which it turns out that the animal is the best judge of character. Although it seems that Deefur is just a normal dog but only allows the best person into his pack. It was charming but the author spent more time about the chaos that was the household and not enough developing the love of the leading characters. It isn't until towards the end that they decide to be honest with each other about their attraction. Of course there's the ever present "I'm too old for him" song & dance. I think I paid too much for a one hour story.
